New Mexico is a place where gangsta rap ain’t never died. It is probably because that state be in the thick of the crimey life. They got the real crime out that way, from the drugs to the car thefts they ain’t never scared and the state been showing that with crime stats for years. It is a real ass place if you know something about it. So when you listen to New Mexico music you gotta remember the rappers there probably don’t give a good damn about what you think but they make the music that they know is real.
Johnny James is like that. He got the bars that show truth and grit but show some growth too. This man know it all real in the streets but he make music instead of being out wilding. You can hear the sincerity in what the man been talking though. With Can’t Fake This you got Stevie Stone on the feature and Johnny James talking like a NM native, the result is something you better recognize about New Mexico, they ain’t messing around one bit when it comes to the music and to the streets and sometime that mean the same thing.
